The Pursuit of Something Greater • nombreKARI on 'Children Play with Fire'

For our latest feature, we sat down with nombreKARI, MyFriendNate and Gus Chvany to talk about the making of nombreKARI’s debut mixtape ‘Children Play with Fire’

Creating a body of work that reflects an artist’s growth, captures their potential, and puts music to the inner workings of their mind is not an easy nor quick process. nombreKARI spent years doing just that with his debut mixtape, Children Play with Fire, which was released in October of 2021. Capturing moments from the making of the project with a small digital camera, nombreKARI documented song-writing sessions, snippets of time spent at the studio, and the collaborative production between him and the mixtape's executive producers MyFriendNate and Gus Chvany.

A couple of months ago, we sat down with nombreKARI and executive producers MyFriendNate and Gus Chvany to talk a bit about how Children Play with Fire came to be and how it changed along the way.

This behind-the-scenes footage covers two years of the process and serves as a time capsule for not only the making of the project but Kari’s musical growth. The songs and mixtape evolved as much as he did and from this evolution came a collection of 10 songs that attest to Kari’s true-to-his-roots character. - Iman Music
